The paper analyses changes in the sectoral and regional distribution of Canadian economic activity over the past twenty years associated with growing integration of the North American economy. It reviews the challenges and opportunities facing Canadian resource-based industries, the manufacturing sector, and metropolitan economies stemming from their greater exposure to the US and Mexican economies.
